Human 001
I saw Maeve as soon as I got to Trinity Bellwoods Park. My energy instantly was pulled towards her. She looked so at peace with her journal in the park.
Initially I was too shy to say hi, so I literally walked right past her trying to play it cool. I did a second lap and finally built enough courage to introduce myself.
“Hi I’m Darius… I’m a photographer working on an art project about strangers.
Would you mind if I took a few photos of you and maybe asked you a few simple questions?”
Maeve thought about it for a moment, then asked a few very reasonable questions about where these photos would go. I answered all of her questions and before I knew it we were taking photos together. :)
I was fully transparent with Maeve that this is literally day 1 and she is the very first person I spoke to.
We both really appreciated that she was human #001.
She was very sweet and kind. I sincerely enjoyed connecting with her.
I know it’s super early, but I am getting a sense that this project is about a lot more than photos.
@dariusbashar This is Maeve. She was so lovely and sweet. I really enjoyed meeting her and hearing a bit about her story.
