Girl on Bench

I don’t remember her name, but I definitely remember how I felt the moment I saw her.

She was sitting alone on the bench and I was immediately enthralled by her presence. She was beautiful and there was a hint of sadness to her too. The sadness only made her more magnetic.

She looked like art, especially when the wind blew away her hair.

Instead of going up to her and introducing myself, I hesitated and got nervous. I knew I had to say hi, but instead I decided to approach an older gentlemen that was sitting 100 feet behind her. I rationalized that he was a safer bet.

I went up to this older gentlemen and asked if I could take his photo. He nicely said “I’d rather you not.” We chatted for 2 mins, mostly about his incredible beard, and then I said goodbye.

The rejection helped ground me and somehow gave me courage.

I used my new found courage to walk back towards the beautiful young lady on the bench.

She was so sweet and generous. She was also so willing to be photographed and even let me make a short video with her.

This experience was a great reminder that even the rejections have gifts.

Love,

D

PS: If you know the name of the beautiful human pls let me know.
